New Carnivorus Hybrid Discovered! The Coywolf

Coywolf 3693

Taken in Plummer Additional, Algoma, Ontario, Canada.

Scientists are beginning to believe that most wild canines of what used to be either wolf and coyote in areas of Ontario where both species exist are, to some degree, a mixed species now. Not enough research has been done as of yet, but DNA testing (it is my understanding) is showing that they have interbred for sometime now and pure wolf or pure coyote are becoming less common. CBC television did a program “The Nature of Things” sometime ago on this subject, worth viewing if you can find it on the web.

My explanation here is most likely not completely accurate from a scientific point of view, but the above mentioned TV program is a good source of information on this subject.
