This is Mona Lisa, a cute little street dog who had survived from its continuous severe abuse. This remarkable story comes from the Speranza Animal Rescue which is located in Pennsylvania, USA. Approximately one year ago, one of the Animal Rescue’s volunteers uploaded a picture of a dog that was found to be stray and severely abused in Philadelphia after a dog fighting. Within several minutes, several people proceeded in going to Philadelphia to rescue the dog.
One of the volunteers stated that when he saw the picture, he was literally cried out of anger and sadness because of what he saw. When the people and volunteers arrived to Philadelphia’s animal shelter, the staff proceed in showing the dog to the Animal Rescue associates. Most of them were readying themselves for expecting a scared and timid dog to greet them and everybody was anticipating to see a very shocking image of an abused dog.
However, Mona Lisa would prove them wrong soon. When she walked down in the corridor, most of the volunteers burst into tears of joy. This was not only because the dog was saved, but also because Mona Lisa greeted them happily and gave them the biggest and most beautiful smile that a dog ever gave to people. For this beautiful smile, the volunteers thought that the best name for this cute dog would be one and only: Mona Lisa. Despite the fact that Mona Lisa had a horrible past because of the trauma she had experienced, her horrible experience had never made her to stop being that happy and wagging her tail. And her injuries were very hard to overcome.
When Mona Lisa was found, nearly half her face was gone because of the constant abuse. Not only that, Mona Lisa had several scars on her body, an indicator that she was continuously beaten up and put into fights. To overcome her situation and injuries, Mona Lisa had spent months being hospitalized in the vet and had numerous surgeries. Mona Lisa joined the Animal Rescue.
In the year following, this little cute dog became one of the most wonderful, beautiful and adorable dogs from all the dog breeds. She also contributed to raising awareness to the public about dog fighting, which is an event hosted in a horrific way for the health of dogs. She also contributed to make many believers that pit bulls are bad tempered dogs to actually love them. Although her past is ferocious, Mona Lisa never put the blame on humans and she keeps to be as loveable as possible. She is one resilient and forgiving dog ever existed. She is one of the best event dogs ever appeared in the Animal Rescue and she tends to visit several residents at a nursing home every month. Although having a very sad past, full of pain and abuse, when one is interacting with her, it is certain that will leave her even more happier than before. Her kisses and her funny wagging tail will make you love her.
